Disney-fy Your School Day!

It's back to school time! Teachers and students have started classes and have kicked off the beginning of fall! But if you're like me, you want to be able to show all of your new friends, classmates, and teachers how much of a Disney fan you are! Sure, backpacks, pencil pouches, and t-shirts are typical, but what other ways are you able to show the world your true Disney identity, without bolting through the doors with a Mickey Mouse tank top on singing "Brand New Day" from Camp Rock 2. Expectially if you're older than 8....
Here are ways to add Disney to your back to school prep!

1. Disneybound

Disneybounding is a fun way to express your love of Disney without it being so "IN YOUR FACE". Choose a suttle character that makes you happy, and has similar traits to you. My suggestions are Elsa, Aurora, Belle, Mickey, or Eric! Again, remember to pick characters that bring the colors of your wardrobe in to play. I chose Rapunzel for my first day of school look by wearing a purple blouse, black blazar, tan shorts, curling my hair, and putting it half up in a flower hair accessory! This will start your school year off well and show your love for the magic of Disney!

2. Decorate your school supplies to look like your favorite Disney movie

Who said that all of your notebooks and binders have to be plain, solid colors? When picking out your school supplies, pick colors that represent your favorite Disney films. Then decorate it with stickers, pictures, or other art supplies to make it complete. One of the notebooks I purchased was red, so I decided to put white poke dots, two black ears, a yellow strip of paper on the bottom, and a red and white poka dot bow in between the ears to represent Minnie!

3. Work a Disney quote into a writing assignment

There's nothing wrong with taking inspiration from your favorite Disney films, as long as it's relevant of course. A few years ago when I was asked to write my class's graduation speech, I focused on the phrase "We keep moving forward, opening up new doors an doing new things, because we're curious- and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." from the movie, Meet The Robinsons (but originally said by Walt Disney). I thought it was such an inspiring quote I decided to base my speech on it, and it turned out to be a big hit! Also, English teachers love it when you connect a book you're reading in class with outside sources. So including a Disney quote in your next Romeo and Juliet book report might actually score you some points!

4. If you can't bring yourself to Disney, bring the Disney to you!

Pins on your backpack? Disney Starbucks tumbler? Belle glitter pen to correct your homework? Next time you go to make a purchase at the happiest place on earth, think about ways you could use that in your everyday school schedule! You'd be surprised what it would do to cheer you up on a gloomy Monday.

5. Listen to Disney music in between passing time

Stand Out from A Goofy Movie? Check. Dig a Little Deeper from The Princess and the Frog? Check. Mickey's Friendship Faire soundtrack? Always.

6. Read a Disney book

We as Disney fans know how great of a storyteller Walt was. We also know how the mention of far off places, daring swordfights, magic spells, and a prince in disguise makes us think of some great tales that have inspired the films we love. So next time you're looking for reading material, reach for your favorite Disney classic's book! Some examples are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll), Peter and Wendy (J.M. Barrie), and Winnie The Pooh (A.A. Milne). And if you're looking for something non-fiction, check out Creativity INC. (PIXAR animator, Ed Catmull), An American Original: Walt Disney (Bob Thomas), Mary Poppins She Wrote (Valerie Lawson), or Dream It! Do It! (Disney Legend and Imagineering Ambassador, Marty Skylar) They all are fantastic reads and are sure to make you think happy thoughts.

7. Use Disney to inspire your art projects

Now, this one's a bit of a stretch, but It's definitely affective.  If you're given an art assignment, add you're own hint of Disney into it. Whether It's picking a favorite Disney costume and using the color schemes from it, hiding A113, the Pizza Planet Truck, and the Luxo ball into the background of a painting, or drawing a sketch of a new character you want to see in Toy Story 4, you can think up many ways to add Disney into your art. One time I did an art project where I had to paint flowers in a pot, and for my flowers, I used the colors of Mary & Bert's Joly Holliday outfits! And besides, anything can happen when you use your IMA-GI-NA-TION! IMA-GI-NA-TION! *Cue figment music*

8. Plan your next Disney vacation

Nothing makes a Disney fan happier than knowing there's Disney trip around the corner. Whether it's to Orlando, Paris, Anaheim, or somewhere in between, planning a trip to one of these magical destinations is bound to make your school day great.
