Rethinking The Way We Fly

I would consider myself a new flyer when it comes to airports and air travel. Although I've navigated my home airport many a time and have visited a smattering of others on past trips, I have almost always traveled with my family, and to airports I'm familiar with. I don't know how to find a gate, I don't understand the pre flight check in process 24 hours before, and don't even get me started on connecting flights. But I do know this, people need to re-evaluate themselves before they step aboard a plane.

Let me clarify, Over the 10+ times I've flown, I've noticed a recurring theme to the way people act. Most people have a kind of, shall we say, glum attitude while in the process of air travel. They want to get where they want to go, and that's it. The security guards are focused in on making sure you're not carrying any weapons, and that you've taken your liquids out of your carry on. Flight attendants- any interaction they have with a passenger tends to be quick and stoic. And your fellow passengers, well to be completely honest, somewhat rude. But what if we could change that. What if we could turn the chore of flying into something that's positive or, at the very least, manageable.

Allow me to give you an example. I'm writing this article after just getting off of a nonstop flight to Orlando. Less than three hours ago, I witnessed a pregnant mother of two (soon to be three) who were on their way to Disney, try to find seats for her and her husband. The family walked all the way to the back of the plane to find a clear row of three for the husband, the oldest child, the mother, and the second child. The mother thought that, because her youngest was two, she could share a seat with her husband. First, a man in his 40s took the window seat of the only clear row left, when there were many one or two row seats in front. When she politely asked if he would be willing to move, he refused, forcing the family of 4 to separate. Her husband and children shared the two seats next to him, while she sat across from them on the aisle. Right before the plane took off, a flight attendant came by and asked how old their youngest was, a little girl by the name of Juliana. When she said two, the flight attendant informed the pregnant mom that if she is two or older she needs her own seat and they would need her daughter to find a seat before the plane could take off. A look of panic arose on the mothers face as I heard her say to the flight attendant "Are you sure? I mean, I'm a pregnant woman who's about to cry"

My family and I were nestled comfortably in the row in front of them, with my dad sitting on the aisle seat of the row next to us. When I saw the mother start to get concerned about the location of her daughter, I immediately turned my head towards her and offered my seat for her child, just diagonally across the aisle, and told the woman I would sit next to my dad, in the middle seat of the row up. Yes, I would have to move all my stuff and relocate. Yes, I hate sitting in the middle seat (who doesn't?). But I did it, because I saw the look of anxiety and panic that spread across the woman's face with the thought of her two year old daughter sitting with strangers in the front of the plane. After asking me if I was sure and if it wouldn't be a burden, I took my bags and moved up a row, no hesitation, and with a smile on my face. She looked relieved, and continually thanked me as I got settled into my new seat.

I didn't tell you this story to gloat. To say, "I'm a better person than you since I gave up my seat." I told you this to show the kind of etiquette that should be enforced, especially on planes. Yes, your crammed into a 2x3ft seat with nothing but a soda and some stale cookies to keep you content. Yes, you may have neighbors who snore or take both of your armrests. And yes, everyone wants to get where they need to go in a timely fashion. But next time you're flying, consider this. Take a minute to do something nice for someone else. Whether it's offering to pay for the coffee of the person behind you at Starbucks, giving up your seat to accommodate a family, or checking the details of the airline company you're flying on to provide for a smooth security line. Your act of kindness could be the thing that turns someone's rough travel day into a mangeable and, dare I say, pleasant experience. Oh, and if I may add, once I moved seats, the little girl took my seat next to my mom, who works with young children everyday. The entire flight, my mom spent her time entering the little girl. Talking to her about the characters she would meet in Disney and how excited they would be to see her again. They took selfies, shared who their favorite Disney Princess is, and made conversation with Juliana's mother. A flying experience that was not just decent, but relieving, with the thought of this whole family starting their vacation off a little better and stress free than it could have been. And, as I was exiting the plane, the mother turned to me and told me something that made my day. "I hope my daughters grow up to be just as kind as you were to me today."

Cassell Tees Review & Sponsorship!

This past month, I had the honor of connecting with Melissa and Rhett over at Cassell tees, their new Disney merchandise company. They have a great variety of products: tees, phone cases, pillows, mugs, and hats, all catered to our favorite Disney Parks references, songs, and quotes! I was so fortunate to receive one of my new favorite Disney apparel items from them, their Wishes Will Come True tee! Check it out!

When I opened the box, the first thing that I noticed was how bright and vibrant the shirt's color is! Most shirts look different online or in photographs, but the bright cherry red color of Cassell Tee's shirt is beautiful and exquisite! Their graphic is beautiful too, so clear and crisp, it was so great photographing it and getting to capture this design on film!

Next up, the fit. At first glance, it just looks like a regular tee. But it's honestly so much more than that! It feels relaxed, while also hugging my curves a bit, and ending down a little longer than my waist! I prefer to have my shirts lay longer on my body because of my shorter torso. I wear a medium, and prefer to have a more fitted feel to them. This shirt is perfect!

I love this shirt so much because it is something I would wear walking around the parks or in my day to day life. It's simple enough that it doesn't scream "disney" but it reminds me of my absolute favorite show at the Disney Parks, Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. I was so sad to find out that it was ending at the Magic Kingdom, but I am lucky enough now to have this shirt to remind me of it when I need a little extra magic in my day.

I know SO many people in the disney community who would love their merchandise because it is simple and clean, yet beautiful and fun! They have such a large variety of options to choose from, and are constantly growing. From mugs to phone cases, pillows to raglans, Cassell Tees has everything you could hope for in an up-in-coming Disney merchandise company!

One of the first things I learned when I started talking with these two is that their main goal is to have a shop with unique options, and to always be open! Also, they release new "all over" printed tees EVERY SINGLE WEEK and are currently working on tee designs featuring some of our favorite night shows too! I personally love their variety, and another plus, they do custom orders! I was so flattered that they wanted to partner with me, and I get the opportunity to share this with all of you! And for being a follower of Magical Day Blog, you can use the code eye_love_wdw to get 10% off your order! I hope you all check out Cassell Tees on instagram @casselltees and at their website, https://www.casselltees.com/

My Top 5 Jobs At Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts

If you know anything about me, you know that I've always wanted to work at Walt Disney World. It's been a dream of mine to work in this magical place. Not only would I love working in my favorite place, but I would love to be able to make an impact on people of all ages by adding magic and excitement to their day. No matter if I never work there, only get to do the Disney College Program, or work for the company my entire life, I've always wondered what job I would be best placed in if I ever got the opportunity to work for such an amazing company. So I decided to go through and list my top five jobs I would love to have with the Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts.Floral Maiden from the Tangled Unit of the Festival of Fantasy parade coming to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in March, 2014. Photo via Disney.

Character Performer/Entertainment
Being a character performer would be one of my ultimate dream jobs. This would be one of my favorite jobs because you spend your days making others smile in phenomenal ways. This is the job that I think I've done the most research on, but it is one of the hardest to get into. There are very specific requirements for this position, and there are also many challenges due to the high expectations you are given. I actually have a good variety of friends who work in this position, and they have given me lots of advice and told me how amazing it is! I mean, who doesn't want to spend your entire day meeting new friends?!

Parade Performer/Actor/Actress/Entertainment
Festival of FantasyThis has been another job I have always imagined myself in. Avid Disney fans know all the music to the shows and parades, and even some of the dances. To get to be apart of the nighttime spectaculars guests line up to see, or dance with all of your Disney friends on the castle stage, would be a dream come true. Since I have an extensive background in musical theater, this job runs in my blood. The music is amazing, the dances are so much fun, and the costumes are beautiful! The entertainment staff at Walt Disney World definitely have an amazing job that I would love to do!

Guest Relations/Tour Guides/"Plaids"
Being a Guest Relations Cast Member would be an exquisite role because you get to show guests the magic behind Walt Disney World. Whether it's their first time to a Disney park or their 100th time, Guest Relations tour guides get the amazing opportunity to experience Disney with the guests, and walk them through the best way to see all of the park. This includes touring celebrities, showing guests backstage parts of Disney that aren't usually available to view, and providing them with fun facts/history about the parks. If you already act as the designated tour guide in you vacation group, and run around the parks spouting out tidbits of information, you're just like me, and this job would be perfect for you! (And the have some of the preppiest outfits on Disney property!)

Marketing Executive- Disney Corporate
Now this, is what I actually plan to do in the future as career. The decisions that get made, ideas for shows, and marketing strategies that are used to continue improving the Walt Disney Company all have to get made by someone, right? The marketing team at Walt Disney World Parks & Recreation play an important role in these decisions. They also work with guests and fellow Disney executives to make sure all the magic that is visible in the Disney parks is up to date and popular among guests of all ages. These are also the people who decide what would work well in a Disney Park in comparison to what may need to be retired or changed. This is what I have imagined myself doing as a formal career for at least two years now, and I can't wait to be apart of the Disney Corporate environment spending every day making smart decisions for such a great company.

Disney Ambassador
Image may contain: 10 people, people smiling, people standing and outdoorDisney Ambassadors have one of the coolest jobs, ever. If you aren't familiar with Disney Ambassadors, they are Disney Cast Members who are selected by their coworkers to be candidates for the position of Disney Ambassador. After multiple interviews and selection processes, two Disney Ambassadors are chosen as representatives for a two year time period. I am lucky enough to be good friends with 2015-2016 ambassador Caitlin Kuhfelt Busscher who is pictured left with her partner Nathaniel Palma (Picture by Nathaniel). When Disney Ambassadors were first introduced, they were known as Walt's second pair of ears and eyes in the parks. But the extra special thing about being an Ambassador, is you get to experience every single job offered at the Disney Parks. From running the death defying Tower of Terror, to driving the Lilly Bell train around the Magic Kingdom, they get to experience every in and out of the company through this two year journey. And coming from someone who has dreamed of learning anything and everything about the Walt Disney World company ever since age 12, it would be pretty miraculous to have this job. It would be a dream come true!

And there you have it! My top 5 dream jobs with the Walt Disney World Company! Let me know what your dream job would be in the comments below and be sure to follow @eye_love_wdw and @Fantasmicfive on Instagram!

Mickey to Your Door Review & Sponsorship!

Four months ago, I sat in a quiet library on a Friday morning. This was the day I was supposed to be flying down to the most magical place on earth. My flight was canceled due to Hurricane Matthew, and I was definitely bummed out big time.

I was looking on my Disney Instagram feed (@Eye_Love_WDW) and wishing there was a way to bring the magic I was missing into my cold, snowy state. That's when I found Mickey To Your
Door! Mickey To Your Door is a monthly subscription box company that sends you a piece of the magic right to you! I got my box the other day- so you could take a look inside this awesome product!

First of all, I was SO excited to receive my box. I love receiving packages in the mail. But Disney mail, even better! I couldn't help think about all of the amazing possible products that could be in the box! Could it be a Disney mug, gummi candy, a plush?! So exciting! When I first opened the box, I saw the cutest Donald Duck plush! It has snap bracelet type arms so it holds onto your arm! Adorable! Next, I found a really cool POP! Minnie mouse pin, which I will add to my growing pin collection! Then, I found a Walt Disney World puzzle (perfect for a rainy day) and lastly, a very special Walt Disney World magnet, with the word Disney being spelt out in photos from the parks. Including the Sorcerer Mickey Hat, Cinderella's Castle, Summit Plummet (From Disney's Blizzard Beach), and the Tree of Life! It's the perfect decal to put on my fridge to remind me of all the fun memories I've had in front of these icons!

My Mickey To Your Door box was such a special surprise to receive.
